China Central Weather Bureau: Cold air will be active in the next week.

At 8 am on January 11th, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a weather alert stating that cold air will be active in China’s weather stage in the coming week. From the 11th to the 12th, its impact will be relatively western with weaker intensity. From the 13th to the 15th, stronger cold air will affect most areas in the central and eastern regions of China, with a temperature drop of 4 to 6℃, and some areas experiencing a temperature drop of over 8℃. There will be winds of force 4 to 6 and gusts of force 7 to 8 in Inner Mongolia, Northeast China, and northern North China. There will also be winds of force 7 to 8 and gusts of force 9 to 10 in the eastern and southern sea areas.

The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a blue warning for strong winds at 06:00 on January 11th. It is expected that there will be winds of force 5 to 6 and gusts of force 7 to 8 in parts of Tibet’s central and western regions, northeastern Qinghai, central and western Gansu, central and western Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, and northern Shaanxi. There will also be Northeast winds of force 7 to 8 and gusts of force 9 across the Taiwan Strait, Bashi Channel, most areas of the South China Sea, and the Gulf of Tonkin, with some areas in the southwest of the South China Sea experiencing winds of force 9 and gusts of force 10.

In terms of precipitation, it is expected that most areas of the country will have weak precipitation in the next three days. From west to east, the Tibetan Plateau to the eastern Sichuan region will have a rain and snow weather process, which is generally dominated by light rain (snow), with local heavy snow in Tibet’s southeast, northwest Yunnan, and northern Sichuan-Tibet Plateau. In addition, there will be intermittent or scattered light snow in the eastern part of the Northwest region, Inner Mongolia, and Northeast China.

Meteorological experts reminded that although the recent cold air activities are not strong, they are frequent. During the cold air’s impact, some areas will have strong winds and local gusts, which may pose risks of collapse or falling for facility agriculture, temporary buildings, and advertising signs. The public should pay attention to staying away from them when traveling outdoors and take measures to keep warm.

In addition, from the 12th to the 14th, there will be a temperature drop in Tibet’s Dingri earthquake zone and its surrounding areas due to the influence of cold air. There will be winds of force 5 to 6 and gusts of force 7 to 8 with a temperature drop of 4 to 8℃. There will also be weak snowfall during the night of the 12th. It is recommended that rescuers and people in disaster areas continue to do a good job in keeping warm, and temporary shelters should strengthen wind protection measures for tents and other facilities.
